Maria Wagner Clarinet Studio Policy - Flat Rate Tuition
September 2026 - August 2027

My Responsibilities

I will teach the language of music, technique, and expression on the clarinet. I will draw from and expand my curriculum to meet each student’s individual needs, interests, and goals.

I will empower students with the skills to continue learning between lessons by encouraging commitment, self-awareness, and by outlining clear practice routines and step-by-step goals.

I will create a welcoming and accepting environment by treating each student with patience and kindness.

Student and Family Responsibilities

Students agree to arrive at each lesson on time, with their clarinet in good working condition and their folder with all lesson materials including books, printouts, and assignment sheets, and a pencil. Students are responsible to cover costs for materials (books, reeds, music, etc.)

Students agree to practice at home between lessons. The amount of practice time suggested will vary depending on the age and goals of each student. The objective is to have the weekly assignment well prepared by the next lesson. (Please ask questions about home practice assignments and give me feedback if the assignments are too challenging or not challenging enough.)

Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

Tuition and Schedule

Flat Rate Tuition: Enrolling in lessons is on a monthly basis. Monthly Flat-Rate tuition is based on the total number of lessons in the studio calendar year divided into 12 equal installments. When a student enrolls, they are reserving a weekly time slot in the studio schedule. Payment is due in advance on the 1st of the month for the entire coming month. Advance payment means you are committing to attend the lessons of your specific time slot that month. Tuition pays for the weekly lesson reservation, the annual Recital, and email support between lessons.

The weeks when lessons are not held are communicated in advance on the studio calendar, and listed here:

The 2026/2027 Calendar will be updated here for September and is available by request.

Tuition Invoices

Tuition installments are due on the 1st of every month. Invoices will be emailed on the 25th of the month prior and will reflect the flat rate and list the upcoming lessons scheduled. If payment is not received by 7 days after the due date there is a $20 late fee. Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment. All payments are non-refundable and non transferable.

Payment Methods

Online: There is a link “click here to pay for this invoice” on the invoice .pdf to pay online with credit/debit processed by Stripe.

Automatic Bank Check: Some students have an automatic bill pay set up through their bank and the monthly check is mailed directly from their bank to me.

Student Cancellation

24-hour Policy/Late Cancellation

Any request to reschedule your lesson requires 24 hours notice. A request to reschedule within 24 hours of the lesson (including day-of illness) will be considered a late cancellation and the lesson will be forfeited without refund.

Student Reschedule with Notice

If you cannot attend your reserved lesson time, with at least 24 hours notice, I will make my best effort to reschedule you to another time slot that same week. I understand that things come up and I leave a few floating time slots open for this purpose. If you are away for the entire week, I will make my best effort to reschedule your lesson to another time that same month - you are welcome to come twice in one week if needed. Paying in advance is a reservation for your specific time slot in the studio calendar. Student-requested rescheduled lessons are subject to studio availability and are not guaranteed. If we cannot find a mutually agreeable time to reschedule, you have the option to attend your original reserved time, or forfeit the lesson without refund.

Weather

If it is unsafe to travel to your in-person lesson, we can hold your lesson online at your normally scheduled lesson time. This is an easy change and can be made without notice.

Student Illness

For the safety of the entire studio, please do not attend your lesson in-person if you are sick or if anyone in your immediate family is showing signs of the Flu or Covid. If you have a cold, are a little symptomatic, but feel well enough to have your lesson, please request to have your lesson online. A switch to an online lesson can be made without notice.

Teacher Cancellation

Teacher Illness/Emergency Days

Tuition is based on 43 lessons annually, but lessons are offered 45 weeks out of the year. In the event of teacher illness or emergency, a maximum of two lessons annually can be canceled by the teacher with short notice and will not be made up. In the event that no emergency cancellations occur, these two lessons are complimentary to the student.

Teacher Reschedule Non-Emergency

Occasionally due to my performance schedule I may request to reschedule your lesson to another time during that same week. I will give as much notice as possible. If we cannot find a mutually agreeable time, you will be given a tuition credit of the value of one lesson towards the following month's tuition payment, or if you do not plan to continue enrollment, a refund for the cancelled lesson.

Lesson Termination

To terminate enrollment, written notification must be received via email two weeks in advance of the 1st of the following month. In the event that this deadline is not met, tuition will still be due for the entire next month and students have the option to attend all paid lessons, and lessons will then cancel for the following month. (This policy is waived for first-time students for the first month. At the end of the first month we will check in about continuing.)
