Illumina Flow is a philosophy of sourcing inspiration and creating and teaching yoga classes founded by my wise teacher Johanna Bell. An Illumina Flow practice is a vinyasa style class with a strong unified intention that is carried throughout the class on all layers including the asana. My classes are rooted in Tantric philosophy, the understanding that there is an innate divinity in all things. Designed creatively around a specific energetic theme and peak pose, we will weave together asana, dance-like moving metaphors and mudras, breath, mantra, mythology and archetypal energies, and music to explore the infinite wonder of nature and the depth of this human experience. Based on my weekly Illumina Flow class, Slow Flow is a practice for those who prefer a slower pace. Some parts of class will move one slow breath per movement, while also incorporating opportunities to hold poses for several breaths, allowing time for deeper alignment cues and a more meditative approach to the asana and energetic theme. A good option for those looking to develop a foundational asana practice.
A practice intended to create the conditions for your body to connect to its innate ability to restore and rest. Passive postures on the ground heavily supported by props invite the body, breath, and heart to settle and feel into more subtle layers of being. Expect 3-4 poses per hour, some guidance, gentle breath work, and lots of silence for your body's wisdom to lead the way.
All classes welcome modifying to honor the needs of your body and spirit.
